SFTP instead of plain FTP
Encrypted transport and clear isolation
SFTP is a file transfer protocol over SSH. Unlike classic FTP, credentials and files are sent over an encrypted connection. Each SikkerFTP.dk endpoint gets its own technical user, folder and quota.
Secure transport is not the same as backups or encryption of stored files. Always keep the original with the sender and delete files once they are no longer in transit.

Frequently asked questions
Questions about the SFTP server
Is SFTP the same as FTP?
No. SFTP runs over SSH and encrypts the connection. Classic FTP normally sends data without the same transport protection.
What does SikkerFTP.dk cost?
The current beta is free. An account can have up to 3 endpoints with 5 GiB per endpoint.
Which applications can connect?
Systems and clients with standard SFTP support can connect, including scripts, ERP systems, WinSCP, FileZilla Client and Cyberduck.
Can files be downloaded in a browser?
Yes. The web client supports endpoints where a recipient does not use an SFTP client directly.
Where are files stored?
Files are stored on self-hosted equipment in Denmark. They are encrypted in transit but not yet on the data disk.
Are files backed up?
No. The beta is for data in transit only, and customer files are not included in backups. Always keep the original elsewhere.
